MORE TIPS: If you are burning the wick and not the fuel, this is an indicator that the wick has not thoroughly soaked up the fuel. Let it sit for a significant time and then light.

Pretty much sent free.. easy pour bottle.. works wellWill not order againI bought two of these because of the bottle the oil came in with the easy pour spout, I was hoping I wouldn't need to use a funnel anymore. Both bottles leaked badly under the cap even though it was completely tightened down when trying to fill up my lamps. The oil itself is great though, burns very clean and bright in all of my dietz lanterns with multiple wick sizes with zero odors indoors.I've always liked oil lamps but after years of chronic bronchitis/rhinitis have become intolerant of many fumes & gases. "Ultra pure" parrafin oil was still irritating me after burning it a short while, so our lamps have gone dark except when necessary for light and warming up small spaces (powder room) during power outages. I decided to try the Firefly Safe & Green oil and am very pleased. I bought a small bottle with the pointed filler cap so it can be refilled if we invest in larger sizes later. The pointed cap made filling oil candles much easier. I would give this oil 5 stars but I'm not sure how green it is overall. It seems to be derived from natural gas, so the method of obtaining the raw material isn't great, and I don't know the manufacturing methods--however it's very clean and green at usage, and neither I nor my husband can detect a smell or have trouble breathing when these are burning. We recently had occasion to use some small lamps with the FF and some old lamps still containing paraffin oil at the same time but in different rooms, so I could definitely tell a difference. Until a plant-based lamp fuel comes along that performs this well, we'll use the Firefly. Not sure how different the Clean and Green is from their main (less expensive) product, would love to hear from some customers who have tried both.I use the fuel in my W.T. Kirkman #2 Champion (7/8” wick) and #350 Little Giant (5/8” wick) and it’s the best lantern fuel I have by far. It’s on W.T. Kirkman’s recommended fuels list for his premium lanterns for indoor/outdoor use. After using it, I fully agree with Mr. Kirkman.Why it can’t be beat:- it’s got a high enough flash point that it can be shipped as cheaply/widely as bottled water (that’s why I can get it cheaper than anything else in Canada)- it’s biodegradable- it’s non-toxic- it burns cleaner than anything else I’ve ever burned (40 hours of burn time later I can’t find soot in my lantern chimneys with white paper towels). I suspect the emissions profile of this stuff is slightly better the competition and comparable to natural gas (the cleanest hydrocarbon I know).The only thing I wish I knew about it before buying (that I still don’t know) is the freezing point. That matters a lot when it’s -26 deg. C outside and there’s no power/heating. I suspect it’s lower than their competitors, but I still keep a jug of very pure 1-K kerosene around.This is the only lamp fuel I’ll use because I’d be a fool to use anything else.This is perfect for my oil candles. They say that it is lightly scented, but I can't detect any scent which is good. It burns clean and bright. The package is easy to use. It was also very well packed for shipping with no spillage whatsoever. Will buy again.the fact that there is no odor from the oil. That is very important to me. Mr. LaraIn my cold blast lantern, a Feuerhand 276 Baby Special with a Feuerhand wick (13mm or 1/2 in width):The Firefly Safe and Green Lamp Oil would not wick fast enough to support anything more than a minimum flame. If you turn the wick up more than 2mm (1/8") the flame would go a bit higher for a moment, but then quickly burn the wick down.(Yes I let the wick soak for hours before the test and warmed the lantern up.)So, not recommended for the Feuerhand 276 Baby Special.I checked the Firefly fuel web page and noticed that that while they say this fuel is recommended for "ALL Vessels", they have a different fuel named "Simply Pure Lamp Oil" that has a picture of a cold blast lantern on the label. That fuel says "For those who need low-freeze-point, fast-wicking fuels for cold-blast lanterns". Perhaps that fuels is a better choice for cold blast lanterns? I will try it next.UPDATE: The "Simply Pure Lamp Oil" did work much better than this in my cold blast lantern. It smells a little bit more, but wicks much better and thus supports a bigger flame and more light. Get that instead of this stuff.
