I see a lot of bad reviews about this heater but I have not seen anything to raise my alarm about. I left it running and it was heating, I picked it up and shook it and it turned off. That tells me it has tip over protection. I set the thermostat to 70 and it ran for a min then kicked off, so the thermostat works. I left it running for 4 hours now and I checked them temp on the plug and its a cool ambient 68. Running any space heater is not as safe as using central heat but as long as you make sure you dont overload your circuit(too many devices drawing on a single breaker), your outlets arent loose(cause a loose outlet will cause poor connection and a poor connection increases the resistance and heat, thats why you see melted plugs. Replace your old worn out outlets). I been testing the temperature of the casing to see if it gets hot or trigger over temp protection but so far it is cool to the touch. Plus if you search the internet the lifesmart brand is also the same as the lifepro brand. So I dont think its a knockoff or a fake. Its the same manufacturer.
