Stiff synthetic plastic-like fabric with synthetic mesh insert. The pipes rusted from the inside after I stuck the bed in the shower to rinse it off. Screen insert is relatively small and balance of bed deck fabric does not breath. Some sagging after use by 12-pound cat. I replaced the bed deck with a completely open mesh breathable size small Cooleroo covering that is too big for this Veehoo size small bed frame. I was able get the Cooleroo cover to fit better by inserting split pool noodles (which don't show) in the pipe casings with the pipes. The Cooleroo cover was on sale at half the cost of the Veehoo replacement so it was worth it to me to make it fit.
